New Office Part 2

We have finally moved to our new office. Everything was wonderful, even on the day we moved, the rain decided to join us after a "long time no see". The AC is kicking really strong and I really feel cold sitting in my office all day. Now the bathroom is clean and me and my other female coworker promised to keep it fresh and clean all the time. I'm so glad that now the guys won't intrude into our "private property".

It's been over a week since the day we packed, moved, and unpacked. Our manager bought us lunch for so many days and the kitchen that we set up is awesome. We even have a small electrical range. The rumor of me cooking lunch for everybody has been spreaded a way too far. Now everybody is looking forward for this special treatment from me. Oh my god! Cooking for so many people is definitely not easy plus they are all from different countries, all together 7 countries. I blamed it on the refridgerator. It is too small to store food. I also blamed it on the ventilation in the office. For sure it will cause "good rivalry and conflict" among my coworkers as their mind will be affected and cause unproductive state.

Oh well.. we are like a family here. If cooking for them will generate delightful and easy working environment. I think it is a worthwhile effort for me.

Hero by Mariah Carey

There's a hero
If you look inside your heart
You don't have to be afraid
Of what you are
There's an answer
If you reach into your soul
And the sorrow that you know
Will melt away

And then a hero comes along
With the strength to carry on
And you cast your fears aside
And you know you can survive
So when you feel like hope is gone
Look inside you and be strong
And you'll finally see the truth
That a hero lies in you

It's a long road
When you face the world alone
No one reaches out a hand
For you to hold
You can find love
If you search within yourself
And the emptiness you felt
Will disappear

Lord knows
Dreams are hard to follow
But don't let anyone
Tear them away
Just hold on
There will be tomorrow
And in time
You'll find the way

It's the time again. Our company is going to move little by little starting tomorrow. Luckily the new office is only across the street. Hopefully it won't create too much chaos to the customers and vendors. The weather seems going to cool down just a little bit. We should be able to have some ice-cream after we get some work done down the road.

Thinking of this equation: Ice-cream - hot weather = cool down

I'll be out from any access to the internet during working hours so I think I won't be blogging anything. Feel free to leave any comments to any blogs.
Welcome home baby boy!

Congratulations to the mom and dad to be, Deny and Ray! Their baby boy will be born in October. This picture was taken during their baby shower and housewarming on last Saturday. Everybody was there to celebrate these wonderful and joyous events. We are not sure what is the name of their baby boy yet but one thing for sure, they have already prepared a warm and safe home for the baby to come home with them.

Carol and Jennifer did a great job in preparing all the food and games for that day. We had "har mee" prawn noodle soup, fried noodle and meehoon, homemade curry puffs, fried chicken from KFC and Popeyes, "Kangkung", chicken wings, "leung fun", chips and queso, brownies, pecan pie, cup cakes, a large cake, crackers with crab meat and so on... We all had a great time seeing each other again and filling our stomach up at the same time. The games were fun and hilarios too. One of the games was rated "R" ..hahaha... Thanks to Carol for choosing the right games for the right time ^.^ Our big winner of the games was Soo Ping. He won 4 out of not sure how many games we had played. Congratulations to him too!! Jasper and I didn't win anything as usual..sob sob...

Gathering with family and friends can be one of life's greatest joys. I wish we will have more celebration like this in the future. This is a celebration of love, friendship and blessings. Nothing else is more important than sharing a piece of happiness with your friends or coworkers. You will not be regret after attending this kind of event as the only thing you will bring home is a wonderful memory and a warm smile in your face whenever you think back again. Maybe you might receive a big windfall like some of us did.

Joy

Last night while I was checking my email, I received a message from my primary school classmate through msn messenger. It was a warm "hello". We have not talked for more than 10 years, it was really nice to hear from her again. She just became a mom of a baby girl about four months ago. I am very happy to see her fulfilled her life with a happy marriage and a healthy child.

These little things seem ordinary to other people but I can feel the joy in their heart where all of us is trying hard to get a sip of it. It is joy that make people cry and make people laugh when ones found it. You can find joy through eating a chocolate when you have been craving for it for a few hours because of satisfaction. You can also find joy when someone accepted you in a relationship, job, or your apology. Joy is everywhere! It is like the stars in the sky where they seem far away but you know when you look up into the sky, the stars are always there even if they are covered by the clouds.

Joy brings us laughters and satisfactions. Look around you today. Enjoy every moment you have and you may find joy today that you never realized it was always there. If you know how to appreciate, you will always find joy.

。err。。就是。。

YSistersY

A young wife sat on a sofa on a hot humid day, drinking iced tea and visiting with her Mother. As they talked about life, about marriage, about the responsibilities of life and the obligations of adulthood, the mother clinked the ice cubes in her glass thoughtfully and turned a clear, sober glance upon her daughter. "Don't forget your Sisters," she advised, swirling the tea leaves to the bottom of her glass. "They'll be more important as you get older. No matter how much you love your husband, no matter how much you love the children you may have, you are still going to need Sisters. Remember to go places with them now and then; do things with them. And remember that 'Sisters' means all the women; your girlfriends, your daughters, and all your other women relatives too. You'll need other women, women always do." "What a funny piece of advice!" the young woman thought. "Haven't I just gotten married? Haven't I just joined the couple-world? I'm now a married woman, for goodness sake! A grownup. Surely my husband and the family we may start will be all I need to make my life worthwhile!"

But she listened to her Mother. She kept contact with her Sisters and made more women friends each year. As the years tumbled by, one after another, she gradually came to understand that her Mom really knew what she was talking about. As time and nature work their changes and their mysteries upon a woman, Sisters are the mainstays of her life. After more than 50 years of living in this world, here is what I've learned: Time passes. Life happens. Distance separates. Children grow up. Jobs come and go. Love waxes and wanes. Men don't do what they're supposed to do. Hearts break. Parents die. Colleagues forget favors. Careers end. But sisters are there, no matter how much time and how many miles are between you. A girl friend is never farther away than needing her can reach. When you have to walk that lonesome valley and you have to walk it by yourself, the women in your life will be on the valley's rim, cheering you on, praying for you, pulling for you, intervening on your behalf, and waiting with open arms at the valley's end. Sometimes, they will even break the rules and walk beside you. Or come in and carry you out. Girlfriends, daughters, granddaughters, daughters-in-law, sisters, sisters-in-law, Mothers, Grandmothers, aunties, nieces, cousins, and extended family, all bless our life! The world wouldn't be the same without women, and neither would I. When we began this adventure called womanhood; we had no idea of the incredible joys or sorrows that lay ahead, nor did we know how much we would need each other. Every day, we need each other still.

I received this email from my sister today. Eventhough I don't know who wrote this, it's definitely something meaningful to share with all the girls out there.

Someone sent me this link. It's pretty funny and interesting.. so please check it out!

Yesterday we saw a movie, Little Black Book, and heard this interesting phrase:
Luck is when preparation meets opportunity

It is just something to share with you here.

Women's New Requirement for a Man

I wonder why I usually couldn't get a good night sleep on Sunday night. Perhaps it's because I ate and party too much over the weekend and hang over on Sunday night? That's certainly not true because I haven't been partying with friends for the longest time ever. Perhaps I was worried about busy Monday and unbelievable workload? That might be true. I read an article a while ago, if one person worries too much about going to work the next day then it's definitely time to change a working environment. Who would have thought that changing a job in US will be that difficult. Everybody that I know had struggled or have been struggling with job/career and it's one of the things that is out of our control.

If I was given a chance today, I will open a restaurant or a cafe that serves homemade cookings. It will be a fun and cozing place for friends to reunite and share the ups and downs with each other. That's something I'm interested in doing and I believe my passionate towards cooking can be shown in my cooking. However, most of the girls that I know today do not like cooking and they think it's too complicated and time wasting by spending all day or night in the kitchen cutting, slicing, dicing, julienne, pounding, chopping, blending and, steaming, frying, baking, boiling, marinating, slow cooking, grilling, glazing ....Phew! So many actions going on here and I believe some of you don't even know what each verb means...

Isn't it ironic that the men are actually a better cook nowadays? It became one of the required abilities a man must have when trying to impress a woman. That's now but back in the days when my dad wooed my mom, all that he has was his charm and sincerity that won the heart of my mom. In my vague memory, there was a time when all of us including my mom, my sisters and I got food poisoning at the same time a long time ago. My dad had to cook for all of us because he has no choice as he was the only person who was lucky enough to escape from this disaster. That was the only time that my dad ever cooked for us after I was born.

For the single men out there, do you have cooking abilities and the willingness of doing that? I'm not talking about the abilities of cooking instant noodle, frying sunny side up eggs and making sandwiches.. but the ability and will to cook for a romantic 3 to 4 course dinner and the ability to prepare foods for guests when having a party. Sure you can always refer to a recipe, but do you have the will to do it? If not, now you should know why you are still out of the loop ordering to-go dinner and enjoying it alone with your sports channel... isn't it pathetic or what?

California Car Duster

Too bad! Most of the DFW area are having 3rd stage water restriction, some even 4th or 5th stage. For an enthusiast like me, being not able to wash the vehicle as you wish is such a pain. So, I have found out a great way to prolong your vehicle's showroom appearance, by using California Car Duster.
I've started using this product since last year, so this is a review based on a 12-month of continuing usage. First of all, this duster is really working!!! At least it really cleans up the dust after sand storm.

The duster produces electro-static which pick up the particle like a magnet. After you are done sweeping with the duster, shake the duster vigorously and let the dirty dust fall off on the floor, wrap it back to the storage bag, and it is ready for the next usage.

If your paint has protection coat on it, you will achieve the optimal result, well, at least your car stays shinning for another week before washing. However, regular car wash is still a must where road grime and brake dust can't be cleaned up using only the duster.

From what I observed, this duster does not produce any swirl marks or scratches, furthermore, it is clear coat safe too. So next time, when you don't get a chance to wash your vehicle, or lazy to wash, California Car Duster can be your next good friend.

一部在原地不动的车子决不会有杀伤力;

一个爱你爱得半死的情人,却因为一句话,由爱变狠,深深一掌掴下来;

像我太太嘛,吃太多了,就直嚷早知不吃;
吃了硬的,就得吃软的;
吃了咸的,就点甜的来吃;

经过梁某的观察与理解,动始终离不了静, 而静也离不开动;
只要细心想一想,动太多了,就该学一学静;

Detailing Tips for your Vehicle

Let's share some of my personal experience on auto detailing. Summer is here, following by tree sap. Have you ever run your bare hand on your vehicle's surface after car wash? How does it feel? If it doesn't feel smooth like glass, you need CLAY!!!

Go get a clay bar, put some elbow grease, and get your way remove all those stubborn tree sap, contamination, and those hard deposit that can't even removed by car wash. Follow by that, apply couple layers of polish and wax and your paint is good for another 6 months, guarantee bling bling shinning shinning for another 3 months...

Mustard Vege

Last time when my mom was here, she bought some kind of vege from a grocery store in Tampa and cooked at my sister's house. Surprisingly, it was so tasty and we never expected it to turn out to be that good. That's because it was not a regular vege from Chinese supermarkets like Bok Choy, Choy Sum and etc. The appearance is not that attractive that you would not buy it and try to cook it. But my mom is a very adventurous person. She is very creative and willing to try new things. I think I have some of her quality genes...haha..

Since my mom left, my hubby and I have been trying to recall back the name of that vege and also how it looked like. Unfortunately our weak memory did not help much because we only remember how it looked like on the plate... when it's cooked! Well, never give up and that's the attitude we should have when we like the food we had before in a special restaurant, a place or in a different country, or in a special occasion where it only happens once in a life time. You know what I mean. Just like the first time I had a french onion soup in New Orleans and was trying to find the same taste in anywhere else but still no luck.

Last week, my hubby and I went to Fiesta to do some grocery after work. I believe that day was my lucky day, I found the vege that we had been searching for a long time. Finally I got the name if it, it's called mustard vege leaves. The vege was sitting in our fridge for quite a few days because I couldn't remember how my mom cooked it. Well, I decided to give it a try anyways. So my hubby helped me to cut it and then I washed carefully because my hubby found a worm on his chopping board after he cut the vege. He was delighted because if the vege has worms that means it is organic!

First I heated up the pan and added some dried shrimp as I know everything cook with dried shrimp will taste good and it is guaranteed. Oh yeah, I also added some garlic. Then I threw in all the mustard vege and cooked for about 6-10 mins with oyster sauce. Voila! Done!

And Yes! It tasted so good and just like how my mom cooked it! I am going to tell my mom when I called her.. oh yes, my sister too!Dare to try?

New Office

Today I went to see our new office just across the street from our current office. It was amazing that all the walls have been put up and it only took about one week from tearing down to building up again according to our plan. It is always exciting to move to a nicer place when you are stuck at the old place for quite some time. However, moving is a pain because you have to go through a lot of things like address change, parking space change, setting up new accounts and transfer existing account to the new address and blah blah blah... One thing that keep me positive is I will get my own office room. You will only earn this when you accumulate enough credits to have the boss appreciate your work and think that you are an asset to the company. It will only happen if they think you deserve a quiet and private room to produce a quality performance. This can be a motivation for me to move on.

Bak Chang

It's almost time to go home now. Everyday we have to think of what to cook for dinner. Yesterday we had a grilled fish, stir fried okra and a leftover ribs. It was considered a good meal for us.

We miss our bak chang! We think our bak chang is the best bak chang ever in Dallas area. There's not many choices here as we tried all made by Taiwanese or Chinese people from China. They all taste differently and the rice is a way too much than filling. The price is not cheap too. Wonder if I start taking orders from friends and neighborhood, would you guys buy from me? Well, the taste of our bak chang is the combination of my family and my hubby's family: Teow chew, Hakka and Cantonese....hehe.. it taste so close to home.

Jas said he's going to make wonton soon. I'm looking forward to it because it's been a long time we never had homemade wonton. Should remember to take some pictures later to share. I welcome all kind of recipes. If you have any special recipe or just simple recipe, don't forget to send to me if you don't mind.
Fire Ant Stung Me!

2 days ago, my hubby inspected the soil around our house and realized it was time to fill out the gap as it was getting bigger and bigger due to the dry weather. So he bought about 5 bags of soil and started to do the work. As usual, I didn't really help much because it's more to a man job as it's dirty and heavy... hehe... So I was just standing there and watching him sweating and showing off his mucle. Out of the blue a fire ant stung my toe. It was painful and itchy. Yesterday it was still swelling but not sure why today it gets a lot better. I believe it was because I did not scratch. My mom always told me when I was little not to scratch the scar or pox because it will leave ugly scar or mark once it's healed.

A few weeks ago, my hubby got stung by about 20s fire ants around his leg and fingers, it took about a week to get completely healed. I felt so sorry and sad to see him suffering from it because whoever had the experience of this will know how itching and burning the bites will cause as fire ants inflict a painful and fiery formic acid sting. They hold on with their mouthparts and inject venom into skin through a smooth, not barbed stinger. That's why we need to use cream that has bleach as it is a base that neutralizes the acid.

I found some ways to treat fire ant sting:

  • Apply a cold compress to relieve the swelling and pain.
  • Gently wash the affected area with soap and water and leave the blister intact.
  • First, Chiggerex medicated ointment, found in most pharmacies. This will stop the itching and stinging.
  • Secondly, Cortisone Cream 1%, Found in most pharmacy's. Rub in well after applying the Chiggerex to stop the inflammatory reaction.
  • Thirdly, Neosporin ointment also found in most pharmacy. Rub this in last. Do this twice a day for three days and you will reduce the itch and sting, the inflammatory process and also the slight infection usually associated following the bite.

I also found this posting from someone named Ange Hall on first aid for fire ant stings and I think it makes sense:

Years ago, I heard a very well known physician discuss first aid for fire ant stings on a news broadcast. He said to rinse sting sites with a 10% bleach solution. Since that time, I have found that if you spray the bleach solution on the stings within 5 minutes of the bite (sooner is better) and then rub it in for 2-3 minutes and then rinse, both the pain and itching quickly stop and then the blisters/pustules do not form the next day. It has always worked for me. Applications after 5 minutes do not work as well. A few times I have been out of bleach, so I used Clorox Clean-up....It worked very well, too. Those with sensitive skin should probably not leave this on the skin for more than a minute or two.

If any of you get stung by fire ants next time, you can use these methods to stop the itch and maybe even stop the blisters or pustules from forming. Hey, it can happen to anyone!
Game: Can you figure out why?

My manager sent this to us and some of them figured out the reason why it seems able to read your mind. If you want to know the answer, I can tell you .. hehe...

"We do well at what we love. The passion is the source of energy to keep us going." by Mr. Lim

Last Saturday was our friend Cheng Wei's MBA commencement. Congratulations to him and we know he will do well in his future. So stay hungry and stay foolish my friend eventhough I'm not sure why he put this phrase in his blog. Maybe this is some kind of encouragement for him.

2 failed gardeners

It's another hot day today. I'm not sure why is the rainbow still hiding away from us. Our grass in the backyard is dead and the water restriction made it even worse to this situation. We went to Cheng Wei's house to check out his new projector TV on the past Sunday. It's ashamed to realized how green his grass was. I know my hubby and I are bad in gardening. All our friends can tell when they came to our house because none of the indoor plants can survive easily too..

Lydia and Sooping laughed at us all the time. They came to our house on Sunday and as usual, our grass became one of the topics for the afternoon again..haha... We will cover it up with something asap as we don't like grass anyways! I saw Lydia has a very healthy evergreen "wan nian qing" (not sure what is the english name, cw told me is called evergreen). I asked her to give some to me and I hope.. "I hope" it will survive this time.

We'll see....
